Superstars of Safe Sleep Hospital Recognition Program

Every year, about 3,500 infants die suddenly and unexpectedly in the United States. Among these are more than 50 sudden infant deaths in Maryland, that's one infant dying every week in our state. The majority of these deaths involve an unsafe infant sleep environment.

Our delivery hospitals play a critical role in educating new parents about safe sleep practices. The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in partnership with the Center for Infant and Child Loss, would like to recognize those hospitals with exemplary programs in infant safe sleep.

In observance of SIDS Awareness Month this October, we invite you to become Superstars of Safe Sleep
